To Deanna From Nancy...

JUNE
Yes, that's right... JUNE.

I'm so shocked that it was finally sent out that I don't know what to say...  Not true, Nancy's too perfect, so we have to tease her when she gives us the opportunity.  She actually had a great suggestion in her letter to me - that I should send the letter out and direct each person to send the letter back to me, which will certainly help me keep track of where the book is and update the blog with changes, etc.  Thanks for the idea Nancy, I'll give it a try, maybe I'll recruit Frank to help me decorate the next letter page.  Oh!  and thanks for replacing the ribbon binding with the metal rings.

I like the use of the air mail envelope, the typewritten return address and canceled stamps, very cool and very Nick B..  I also like it because it kept the unintentional "French Thing" going with the Par Avion, at least I think it is unintentional.  These pages are all very you, with the ballet photos, the music, books and writing.  Of course I couldn't miss that Auburn Symphony Orchestra piece and the PNB ticket stub.

Any music suggestions for the Letter Book Browsing Playlist?

The year is almost over and where is the book...

Still with Nancy.  I've seen her collection of things to include on her page and it is impressive, but....  I think that since me, Mellissa and Elise will all be at her house this weekend we should start cutting and pasting her page together, or hold out on the Malbec until she finishes her page.  A photo of the guilty party with my dad.

Finally... To Nancy From Mellissa

So, it took a lot of harrassing on my part, but she got it out the door.  Thanks Mellissa!  Your social calendar needs a zip file; too much data ;-)  Of course her pages would all be food related...  and in keeping with the whole French theme that somehow made its way into the book, you included pictures from your time in Paris...  nice.

I like the My Little Pony...  You are the Pony Queen!

The photos she enclosed with her letter to Nancy are of the macaroni and cheese dinner that Mellissa and her friend Kim made one night for a dinner in Paris...  It was apparently so bad, that they decided to have all those bottles of wine for dinner instead.

Building the Book Changes

So... from April 2010 to now January 2011  and the front cover is very much the same... only a few small items were added.

The back cover is filling up though.  It looks great!    There's still nothing on the inside part of the back cover.  I'm going to have to do something about that, not sure what, but something.

You'll see... in a month!

A few changes to the front cover, although not many.  It is still recognizable.  I'm glad others are adding to it.  I hope the entire thing changes before this is done at the end of December.

Something was also added to the back cover as well.  Please continue to decorate as much of it as you want to and if your page is enough for you and someone close wants to participate, feel free to let them decorate the front and or back cover.  As long as the letter book keeps moving to the next scheduled person.  Have them follow the blog if they want to see it change over the next few months.

The next stop of the letter book is to Nancy Colson, after that, I don't know, she hasn't figured out who she's going to send it to yet.  Just remember we need everyone's name and email addresses that the book goes to so that we can keep track of it.

Doughnuts and Surfboards...  Top Pot should get a giant doughnut and hang it around the neck of the Hammering Man at S.A.M.  I'd go see that.

April... from Kyle to Mellissa

No surprises with Kyle's front page to his letter , full of astronomy.  I'm not sure if Kyle even realizes that he could not have picked a better person to send his letter to decorated like this.  Mellissa was determined from an early age to be the first woman to fly the shuttle to Mars.  Now she speaks French and looks at debt to income ratios, but I still think she'd go given the chance.  ha!  I knew there would be something from NASA on it.
I really like the back cover too but I'm surprised, you went for Dwight instead of Dexter!  It's very colorful and not unlike what Frank did when I made him participate in the Travelling Letter Book a few years ago.

Letter Book Playlist and the Correspondents... so far

Some changes to the Blog… I added an iPod, with a few songs to listen to while you’re reading through the posts and comments. The music loads automatically, so if you want the volume low you’ll need to adjust the volume on your computer, or if you don’t want to hear it at all just click the play/pause button on the iPod. Any requests?

Also, below is the list of people’s names and locations that have, or will have the letter up through May. If someone does not want their name and location on here, please let me know and I’ll take it off. We’ll be adding names as the letter moves on from Nancy. I’d really like to get as many names in advance as possible so that we can really keep track of the book as it moves on to each person. I’d really hate to lose it after all this effort that everyone has put into it so far.

So Nancy, your letter book assignment is to name your correspondent and pin them down for a name, as well as make them join the blog!

I’m still trying to figure out the whole openid thing so that anyone can follow without having to join, gmail, twitter, yahoo, or whatever else they allow on here. If you want to comment you can without having an account at one of those places, but you’ll have to do it anonymously. I actually, pasted one of Nancy’s comments from an email on there. That was when I was trying to test the openid, which was a complete FAIL… I’ll figure it out one day.

March... From Kelsey to Kyle

So, it's March now and thankfully the letter is still moving onward, which is good news.  The letter is now in the hands of Kyle "The Badger" Howerton. Who is probably going to be upset with me about that name I've given him appearing here and also happens to be Kelsey's older brother.  She did a really nice job on the front AND back of her letter pages.  I like how both sides are very different.  The front of the letter (above) is brightly colored and the back (below) is more muted and very dreamlike.
We all seem to be under some French influence, as we've all included things that are part of France...  I had included one of my tickets from the Paris Metro, as well as a few random things that were in a brochure from the Louvre on the cover, as well as in my letter to Elise.   Elise also included some things that were related to France, one being the Louvre and Kelsey had a large Fleur de Lis on the back of her letter to Kyle... we'll see if it continues throughout the book as it moves on...
